My Powder Picks

As mentioned in my last post, I thought it would be really useful to focus on powders for today. No matter what your budget, if you're in the market for a setting/mattifying powder, I've got you covered.

L-R; Rimmel Stay Matte, S&G One Heck of a Blot, CHANEL Poudre Universelle Libre
First up and coming in at a super affordable £3.99 is this popular Rimmel offering. Although this is the least finely milled of the bunch, it lasts a good 3-4 hours on my T-Zone before things get a little too shiny. This was my first powder and I think for the price it does a pretty good job of setting and mattyfying the face.

This is my second 'One Heck of a Blot' and for months I loved it (and admittedly still do when I choose to apply a pressed powder). This is much more fine and velvety than the 'Stay Matte' which can sometimes look chalky and powdery. The only downside to this S&G option was that at £12 for 9g it didn't seem very good value for money. Also, if I had bought a third one, I would have spent a total of £36 on these little compacts, which explains my next powder pick...

*swoon*
After realising that the aforementioned powder was only lasting me a month or so, I decided to spend my pennies on something containing a lot more product. After doing some serious research and review-reading alongside feeling a little spendy, I opted for this gorgeously packaged and oh-so luxurious Chanel Translucent Loose Powder. Containing an impressive 30g of finely-milled powder heaven, this for me is the best mattifier of the three and has hands down taken the crown. It seems as though there are three stages to the finish of this powder throughout the day; initially my face is completely matte without a trace of cake-iness, then as I start to get oily, the powder melts into my skin leaving a velvet finish, and finally, in the evening my face has this slight shiny glow, all of which I love the look of. Loose Powder Perfection.

Hope you enjoyed this powder-specific post and it was helpful to anyone in the market for a new powder, or was simply informative:) Thankyou for reading!

  6. The Chanel one sounds lovely! I've tried the Rimmel one before too and although it is great for the price, it doesn't keep me matte for the whole day. Currently, I'm loving my Bare Minerals Mineral Veil!

  7. The Chanel one is amazing. My fave at the moment though is Smashbox Halo powder. I love the "grinder" and the finish is luminous without being glittery. When I use it, I get many compliments on how lovely my skin looks, so total winner in my book!
