Fingertip Picks: Summer 2014

Another installment of 'fingertip picks' on the blog today. Prepare for some classic brights and relaxed neutrals that will be sure to keep your mani season appropriate and chic this time of year...

L-R: Rimmel Sun Downer, Models Own Utopia, Revlon Sweet Tart, Rimmel Nail Nurse, Essie Mint Candy Apple

Rimmel Sun Downer: I like to think of this as a varnish form of the Nars Red Square Lip Pencil - a gorgeous orange toned red perfect for fingers and toes. The finish is gorgeously glossy and the brush is great too.

Models Own Utopia: Just because the sun's out, doesn't mean I'm all about the brights on the nails. I'm a neutrals girl through and through, so for days when I'm not wanting vibrant fingertips, or if my outfit is colourful enough, I'll most likely opt for this bottle of lilac-y greige goodness.

Revlon Sweet Tart: If we're talking hot pink but not too barbie-fied nails, this one surely takes the cake. A stunning almost neon pink that works wonders with a tan and stacked silver rings.

Rimmel Nail Nurse: When you thought things couldn't get any more neutral in a summer post of mine, think again... If even the likes of the Models Own option are too much (colour or effort) I'll just whack this on and be done. This is currently my go-to base coat anyway down to its strengthening properties, so why not leave it at that for the true 'barely-there' appeal.

Essie's Mint Candy Apple: Dare I say the most popular of Essie shades? It's understandable why; a delightful mint green tone that just seems to work on everyone and for most occassions. A definate staple in my collection that I would definately recommend if you haven't tried it already:)

That concludes the summer edition to the series. I personally can't wait for autumn for things to get a tad more vampy and sophisticated in the nail department, perhaps even more neutral picks? Don't shoot me;)

  1. I love the variety of shades you picked out. I'm a huge fan for brights in summer such as Rimmel Sun Downer but also pastels. I would definitely go more gothic during autumn, my nails are painted darker when the seasons deteriorate haha x
